There used to be a time when Punjabis lived in Punjab, Sindhis lived in Sindh, Baluchis lived in Baluchistan, Kashmiris lived in Kashmir, and Pashtun and Hazarawal lived in Afhania (NWFP, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, or whatever you wanna call it). THOSE TIMES ARE LONG GONE. This is what the majority of the Pakistani population fails to understand. Ever since the partition, people of different ethnicities have moved across ethnic borders to test their luck and improve their standards of living in the newly formed Pakistan. They thus created a new identity for themselves; Pakistani. There is not a single province today which is home only a single ethnicity; All are mixed. More than 62 years ago, The Muslims of south asia promised to come together and unite under a new Muslim nation, they have yet to fulfill their promise. Today, They are fighting over renaming and creating new provinces to represent themselves, but they fail to realize the only representation they actually need is Pakistani. The name of a province does not mean squat these days and neither will it in the future. It has no benefit yet only negative effects. It will make the smaller ethnicities within the province seem suppressed and overpowered, which will eventually cause chaos in the streets. The whole idea of renaming/creating a province on ethnic bounds really does not make sense in today's Pakistan. For example, the most populated province is Punjab. That doesn't mean every one living in Punjab is Punjabi. There are vast amount of Kashmiris in the north, and as a result of the ongoing war; vast amount of Pashtuns located all over the province. We have to recognize ourselves as Pakistani and not as anything else. Actions like renaming provinces will only divide us amongst ourselves. If you don't believe me then look around and see all the unnecessary violence that is going on. Damage of public property, hundreds injured, as well as some lives have been lost because of protests. Is it really worth it? What i don't get in the first place is why do the Pashtuns need Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and why is there a need for a Hazara or Seraiki province? Why can't all these groups live as Pakistani? Renaming or creating a province isn't going to bring even a slight change in their daily lives. It's not like the anyone of those groups are going to live in the proposed provinces they are fighting each other for anyway. My bet is that each and everyone of them are going to either going to stay in Punjab or Sindh. The renaming of the province is not even in the benefit of the people. How do i know? Because it is all political. Political parties love to fight for a cause with no meaning in it. Political groups within the nation are fighting to extend their power within other ranks. Renaming the province is their tactic but it was as worthless to the common man as the 18th amendment. For them the average man's life is a joke. If you think they actually care about you then ask yourself; where is my electricity? Where is my atta (flour)? Where is my gas? When you get the answers then ask yourself: Why in the world am i supporting them (the political parties) in these pointless moves?

I don't know how much I hate Benazir Bhutto, I really don't. When she was alive she was just any other corrupt leader to me but when she died she became like poison. It's nothing she did [well sort of], but how my nation's people made her after her death. Some can say she died a Rockstar's death; the Rockstar is valued more after his/her death than if they were alive. For some unknown reason she became to Pakistani public as Jesus [Prophet Isa] is to the Christians. People keep chanting in the press and in the streets of how great she was. I got several questions for those people;
1. What the hell did she accomplish during the 2 terms she was in office?
NOTHING! In fact she and Nawaz Sharif almost made Pakistan into a failed state.
2. Didn't she get kicked out twice for corruption?
She was also charged for corruption internationally by 3 other countries other than Pakistan!
3.Isn't she the wife of the same corrupt bastard that is leading the government right now?
It was during her term that he became known as Mr.10% and made his fortune ripping off the public and smuggling gold across the Arabian sea.
I'm tired of PPP stating she died for her country; she didn't. She died trying to get back in power.The same power her husband is abusing right now [she would've probably been as bad or even worst than him]. If she wanted to save her country she would've came back a long time ago, but she feared jail too much and her love for her country probably wasn't as strong until Musharraf allowed her to come back. What i fear the most is that her son is gonna come to power soon or later; another era of mindless leadership is awaiting us. Great job Pakistan, waste your energy on remembering a selfish and corrupt bitch because she really did so much for us![being sarcastic]
So how do you know when a party is in power for it's own good rather than it's country's? Well you get hints here and there, and i got those hints in Pakistan. I went to Islamabad a couple of times during my visit [awesome city] and i saw one thing that really pissed me off; PPP [Pakistan Peoples Party] Flags raised up in Islamabad highway rather than the Pakistani Flag. And this isn't a small thing because there wasn't just one flag; there were about 70 of them. This showed that the PPP have the balls to publicly show the nation that they are in it for the power and not for their country. I have never seen a bizarre thing like this in any part of the world. It's very rare to see all Pakistani politicians and media to stand united against a cause and that is exactly whats happening now. In order to defeat the taliban the whole nation stands united to get rid of the cancer of Pakistani society. Usually the opposition party in Pakistan [who is not in power] always creates chaos and criticizes everything the party in power does [in this case the PPP] but even Nawaz Sharif called for unity and supported the government's action. Pakistan's growing middle class is already on the side of the government as they are all well-educated about the taliban's actions in the neighboring country and it's misuse of Islam. I would think the people who have to move from their homes and relocate in camps until the military operations end would have problems with it but even they support the army as one IDP [Internally Displaced Persons] of Mingora stated: "We will rebuild our homes, but would not want to see the presence of even a single Talib after this operation". The terrified residents also told the Pakistani newspaper Daily Times: “With almost 100 percent public support for the military operation it doesn’t stand to reason to see that at the end of the day the target – flushing out the Taliban – is not achieved. We would see fault with no other institution than the military if the targets remains unachieved”. I am also extremely proud of prime minister Gilani's address to the nation to fight with unity, I believe his message effected many. Another example is shown in Karachi as MQM [Muttahida Qaumi Movement] and ANP [Awami National Party] both withdrew the May 12th strike they once called. And last but not least, our Army has donated a day's pay for the rehabilitation and welfare of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of NWFP and that shows their commitment and how much they care for their people. Remember to enjoy these times of unity and try your best to do your part =]
