Pakistani Music

Pakistani music includes diverse elements ranging from music from other parts of South Asia as well as Central Asian folk music, Persian music, Turkish music, Arabic music as well as more modern American music influences. With the multiple influences, Pakistani music has emerged as a "fusion" of many other types of sounds together to form a distinctly Pakistani sound. Many well known artists and bands have come out of Pakistan such as Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Strings, Jal, Bulleh Shah, Atif Aslam, Ali Zafar, Vital Signs, Abrar Ul Haq, Faakhir, South Asia's Biggest rock band Junoon, and the list just keeps going on. Pakistani music varies from Classical to Ghazal, Qawwali, Folk, Hamd, Filmy, Pop, Rock, and the not so popular in Pakistan: Hip Hop. Internationally Pakistan has been successful in Classical, Qawwali, Pop, and especially Rock with so much popularity in Pakistan that it has already developed 2 sub-genres and gained millions of fans all over the world [Pakistani rock is an interesting genre because its mixes both American rock and Pakistani classical music].
