Shameful Indian Democracy

India always claims to be the biggest democracy in the world but yet it's actions against it's minorities and against the people of Kashmir say something else. There have been many protests in the Indian Held Kashmir [IHK] but the most recent one differ from the rest. The Kashmiris are protesting the "mystery deaths" of 2 women, aged 17 and 22. Their families have accused Indian security forces of abducting, raping and subsequently killing them. If you wonder why this is the first conclusion their families came to then i'll let you know that the indian troops are responsible for gang raping/molesting over 9,864 Kashmiri girls since 1989 [even young girls of the age of 13]. India is responsible for even more horrors in the region. My heart bleeds when i read these news and i feel saddened for my Kashmiri brothers and sisters. Inshallah one day when we win our war against the taliban we can concentrate on freeing the rest of Kashmir from the brutal indians...

Pakistan's Other War

While Pakistan fights off the taliban in northern Pakistan, it's busy fighting another war that affects the whole world; the media war. Media controls what information the world gets and controls most of the decisions the world leaders make. It could make a country look like a huge leader or a poor nation. To fight this war Major General Athar Abbas, who has been the image of this war against the taliban has six flat-screen televisions on one wall that show all the main international English-language news channels, and several local ones. He analyzes all the major news networks and the accuracy of their reports. He safe-guards Pakistan's image and spreads the truth about certain topics. For instance; recently it was all over the news that Pakistan's nuclear arsenal was not safe. Major General Abbas stated that the U.S. is too worried on the safety of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal and should start worrying about the weapons lost in Afghanistan. A U.S. government report last month warned that the Pentagon did not have "complete records" for about one-third of the 242,000 weapons the United States had provided to the Afghan army, or for a further 135,000 weapons other countries sent. And just recently, Abbas has stated in a press conference that he has found the stolen U.S. weapons in Swat being used by no other than the taliban. Bravo for the Pakistani army as they fight the war in a completely different front and for their success in both wars! [recently the city of Mingora was completely freed from the taliban].

The Enemy Attacks

While the army is successfully whopping the taliban's behind in northern Pakistan, the taliban fearing it's end is trying it's last efforts to scare the nation. Over the last few days the taliban is responsible for 5 deadly attacks throughout the country [the lahore being the most deadliest]. While the casualties of the blasts are far less than what the taliban is facing, a death is a death. But our nation should understand that we are not going against our muslim brothers but animals who have no value for human life whatsoever so we should not feel scared or terrorized but yet more motivated in our cause and struggle. I ask all of my Pakistani brothers and sisters to unite and fight this disease before it becomes capable of threatening our survival and Inshallah victory will be ours!

Shoaib Akhtar Touches A New Low

If you're one of the cricket fans wondering why the "Rawalpindi Express" Shoaib Akhtar is not being able to participate in the Twenty20 World Cup then i've got you an answer; he has Genital Warts! For some people who don't know what that is, it is a sexually transmitted disease [STD]. From such a huge cricket star who has a fan following all over the world this is very disappointing. He is a huge icon of an Islamic country he should at least acknowledged that before he went on doing something obscene. If not he should have at least put his career before his actions, but again we are talking about Shoaib Akhtar who in the past has gotten in a verbal fight with one of his former captains [Waqar Younis], got caught tampering the ball, abused another cricket player [Paul Adams], During a series with India he cited an injury and chose not to bowl halfway through but showed up to bat later on, He was sent back from the 2005 Australia tour with a hamstring injury amid rumors of indiscipline, lack of commitment, and attitudinal complaints, He was subsequently fined by the PCB for avoiding a late night curfew, he was banned for two years for using performance enhancing drugs, and had allegedly slapped former Pakistani coach Bob Woolmer over an argument. Why in the world would anyone hire such an unprofessional player is out of my question but all i know is that Shoaib Akhtar has just touched a new low!

Talibanis Want To Get Married!

Recently in Swat, the army has rescued a family who states that the taliban were trying to force them to marry off their daughters [to the taliban]. And when the father didn't agree with the taliban's condition they shot him [he survived]. The mother of the girls told a news channel, “They were forcing us ... we did not want to marry off our daughters to them.” The army then launched a heroic operation and rescued the family [with 3 jawans getting injured during the operation] and shifted them to a safer location. Wow! Now that's a story!!! I guess after finding out that no one wants to give their daughters away to heartless killers, this is what they have come to. Well, I'm glad the family is safe and the daughters [who in Pakistan are the pride of the family] are safe as well. May God free those who are suffering under these inhumane people.

Sacrifices Of The IDPs Noticed

The sacrifices of the IDPs [Internally Displaced Persons] has been noticed by our government and it has announced a 8 billion Rupees package for them. A cash grant has been allowed for the 125,000 displaced families and each family will get Rs25,000 for making extreme sacrifices for the survival of their country. Also, Students of Malakand/Swat studying in other parts of the country will be exempted from payment of tuition fee while relief goods and equipment donated for the IDPs will be allowed duty free import. The PIA will also airlift relief goods free of cost. The government has also decided that it would ensure that essential medicines are available for the IDPs in the camps and off camps. With international and domestic support Pakistan will be able to overcome this situation and soon these IDPs will be able to return to their homes [some districts have been completely freed from the militants and the army allowed the IDPs of those districts to return home]. May God help us in our struggle and may the victory be ours...

The Talibani Hypocrisy

Remember 2 months back when there were news around that the taliban banned people from shaving their beards and also killed a couple of men that did? Well now it's has been found out that to escape their deaths from the army in Swat the taliban are shaving off their beards! Wow! So when other people shave off their beards or cut their hair you take their lives but when someone is on your ass it's ok for you to do it!?! Makes no sense does it? According to the ISPR: “We have confirmed reports that these Taliban ... after shaving off their beards and cutting hair, are fleeing from the area..."Below are some important articles but I'm still not over the fact that some people actually supported these a$$holes...

"PAKSTAN"

As we all know Pakistan means the "Land Of Pure" but i have recently found out something very interesting about where our nation got it's name from. See the original spelling of Pakistan is actually PAKSTAN. And each letter in Pakstan represents something; P for Punjab, A for Afganiyat [Now known as NWFP and FATA], K for Kashmir, S for Sindh, and ending with ‘tan’ for Baluchistan. Now is that amazing or what?!? And this isn't just another theory or a myth but actually came from the famous Time Magazine [Aug. 13, 2007 edition to be exact]. I Hope you enjoyed this little yet amazing fact, i know i did ;)

700 Militants Killed As Army Advances

According to the military, since the beginning of the operation against the militants [which started in april 26th], over 700 militants were killed and 20 soldiers laid down their lives for their country. NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!! This has been the most productive and most effective operation in the whole War On Terror [which started back in 2001]. As you know the on going operation started when the government agreed to appoint Islamic judges under the peace agreement made with the militants and instead of laying down their arms as demanded by the government, militants advanced to within 100 kilometers (60 miles) of Islamabad provoking the military to take action. With the public's support and the U.S's military and financial assistance the Army can wipe out militancy easily! Once again, Hooray for our soldiers and our support and Duas' [prayers] are with them.

Younus Khan Back On Top

Our national cricket team's captain Younus Khan [that's how he spells his name] according to the ICC is now once again the number one test batsman in the whole world. The 300+ runs he scored against Sri Lanka [back in February] probably helped him out a lot. Also our popular all-rounder Shahid Afridi becomes the 10th best bowler in ODIs [One Day Matches]. Once again, congrats to him and another accomplishment is achieved by the Pakistani cricket team.

PCB Challenges ICC On 2011 World Cup Decision

The Pakistan Cricket Board [PCB] has finally taken action and has sent ICC [International Cricket Council] a legal notice claiming that excluding them from hosting the 2011 Cricket World Cup is legally flawed. Finally the PCB grew some balls!!! I mean tell me if this makes sense; Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh were supposed the host the 2011 World Cup. Sri Lanka has a civil war going on, India always has some kind of violence going on and with 16 groups fighting to gain independence within India i don't think it'll ever stop [also has law and order problems going on that prevented the Australian tennis team from touring], Bangladesh recently faced mutiny by its armed forces and refused to host Pakistan on accounts of security concerns which resulted in cancellation of Pakistan series in Bangladesh in March, and Pakistan was stripped from hosting the world cup because of "unrest in the country". This action was clearly discriminating and another attempt to isolate Pakistan. Anyway the action is being challenged by PCB by a creditable lawyer and Inshallah victory will be ours.

Pakistan Stands United

It's very rare to see all Pakistani politicians and media to stand united against a cause and that is exactly whats happening now. In order to defeat the taliban the whole nation stands united to get rid of the cancer of Pakistani society. Usually the opposition party in Pakistan [who is not in power] always creates chaos and criticizes everything the party in power does [in this case the PPP] but even Nawaz Sharif called for unity and supported the government's action. Pakistan's growing middle class is already on the side of the government as they are all well-educated about the taliban's actions in the neighboring country and it's misuse of Islam. I would think the people who have to move from their homes and relocate in camps until the military operations end would have problems with it but even they support the army as one IDP [Internally Displaced Persons] of Mingora stated: "We will rebuild our homes, but would not want to see the presence of even a single Talib after this operation". The terrified residents also told the Pakistani newspaper Daily Times: “With almost 100 percent public support for the military operation it doesn’t stand to reason to see that at the end of the day the target – flushing out the Taliban – is not achieved. We would see fault with no other institution than the military if the targets remains unachieved”. I am also extremely proud of prime minister Gilani's address to the nation to fight with unity, I believe his message effected many. Another example is shown in Karachi as MQM [Muttahida Qaumi Movement] and ANP [Awami National Party] both withdrew the May 12th strike they once called. And last but not least, our Army has donated a day's pay for the rehabilitation and welfare of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of NWFP and that shows their commitment and how much they care for their people. Remember to enjoy these times of unity and try your best to do your part =]

The Army Saves Us... Again

A few days back, our country's leaders [Chief of Army Staff to be exact as the rest just talked and took no action] finally took action of the growing problem of the taliban, and after 10 days of the event the Army has been very successful in their actions and have won over Dir and are fighting to gain control of Buner and now Swat. Yes people the same Swat that the government was trying to negotiate with the taliban to maintain peace. Obviously that didn't work out as the taliban broke almost every rule of the peace agreement and had no attention of giving the people true Islam [they banished music, and stopped women from leaving for the market; how is that Islam? only they must know, because we're the illiterate ones.]. Anyway as the government was making a fool out of itself and making itself weak to the public and international eye, but someone saw the growing problem and took action and that someone is no other than the Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. After taking action around 2 weeks ago the army launched an operation in Dir on the behalf of the local government and people and was very successful and that operation lead to another operation in Buner and now the much troubled Swat. Inshallah like the past operations this will be a success as well with the army getting rid of over 40 militants in just Swat alone. Which leads me to another thing i noticed: People always complain about military rule and always talk about democracy but in Pakistan i have NEVER seen democracy progress our nation, it's always the military rule. The only democratic era that was progressive was Musharraf's era and even that was looked at as dictatorship. Let me just say one thing; Dictators don't resign...

Pakistan Smashes Australia In T20

Yesterday Pakistan smashed Australia in their first and only twenty20 against them! Seeing the upcoming twenty20 world cup this is excellent news. We beat them by 7 wickets and 22 balls remaining. Australia batted first and made a poor 108 runs in 20 overs with Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi ripping the Aussies apart with 4 and 3 wickets each. Then Pakistan batted with Kamran Akmal scoring 59 runs [not out], Misbah-ul-Haq scored 24 runs, 17 year old Ahmed Shehzad scoring a poor 4 runs off of 12 balls, and Shoaib Malik facing only one ball made 0 runs [not out]. Pakistan is very good in T20 and made it to the last T20 world cup final back in 2007 facing rival India. We we're unlucky and lost by only 5 runs, but we have a very good chance of taking the trophy home this year. Inshallah victory will be ours =]

What Drives The Taliban

What you see above is a Shahadat certificate. It if often carried by or given to a suicide bomber or a Baitullah Mehsud [leader of the Pakistani taliban] follower. What is a Shahadat certificate? Well according to the taliban if you get this certificate then this is your pass to heaven; no matter how many lives you take or how many sins you do. So what does this tell you about the taliban? The people who think a certificate is going to get them into heaven know what the real Islam is? I don't think so! This is really sad and shows how the taliban fool and brainwash people into joining them. What really confuses me is how do the people who have been educated all their lives even some in abroad institutions fall into this trap? Don't they have a common sense? Anyway i just wanted to show how low the taliban can really go and what their true motive are. To take a close view of the certificate just click on it. Once again this is sad, really sad...

Obama Lived In Pakistan!

In recent news US Special Envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke said President Obama also has “very deep personal feelings for Pakistan, As a young man he visited Pakistan. His mother worked there, and she loved Pakistan”. Wow, now that's what i call breaking news. I don't know if this is true or not but it is coming from a very official source; Washington itself. I have nothing more to say, i am still very stunned lol.

A Thorn Of A Rose; Murree Brewery

A rose is probably the most beautiful flower in the world, but with it's immense beauty comes thorns; which restricts the rose's popularity and makes it a bit unfavorable. In this case the rose is Pakistan while the thorn is Murree Brewery. Created in 1860 Murree Brewery is the maker of Pakistan's premier beer brand, Murree Beer [alcohol; sharab]. Murree Brewery also exports to the Middle East and many European countries, where it is available in Indian and Pakistani restaurants. The brewery has two manufacturing units located in Rawalpindi [Punjab] and Hattar [NWFP]. This is quite sad news as Pakistan is a Muslim country and alcohol is forbidden in Islam. Although Murree Brewery sells non-alcoholic beer, it's main source of income in Pakistan comes from alcoholic beer. The only problem i have with this is that NOTHING GOOD HAS EVER CAME FROM ALCOHOL. I mean there is no problem with exporting it to other countries [except the middle-east where there is a muslim majority], but giving your country such a product is just disgusting. Today, all Murree Brewery products are readily available in legal liquor shops that operate openly in Karachi in places like Zamzama and Defence. It is also available in the interior of Sindh. Although the consumption of alcohol in public is still nominally banned, it is becoming increasingly available in clubs and high-class restaurants. This is nothing but a set-back for Pakistan that some people choose ruin the lives of their people by providing them something haram and dangerous just to make some money. All i have to say to them is: "Is money going to pardon you from God's justice? I think not...."

A United Pakistan Saves An Innocent Life

PESHAWAR: Thanks to the generosity of kind-hearted Pakistanis, five-year-old Hamza has been brought back to health and is now convalescing at home after receiving quality medical treatment.

He was injured while going to a shop on the Ring Road here on February 5. It so happened that a lawyer was attacked by his rivals and little Hamza happened to be there. He suffered multiple bullet injuries and doctors at the Lady Reading Hospital twice operated upon him.

However, Hamza couldn’t recover fully. Doctors recommended that he should be shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad for specialised treatment.

Hamza’s father, Ahmadzada, had by then exhausted all means. The 28-year-old rickshaw driver had shifted to the city from his native Tangi area in Charsadda district two months ago and had no money to treat his only son.

Talking to The News, he said he had rented a one-room house for Rs 1,500 per month on the Ring Road for his family that included his wife, two-year-old daughter Ayesha and Hamza.

On the fateful day when his son was injured, he was out for work and a kind elder named Haji Shaukat shifted his wounded son to hospital.

Someone suggested to him that he should make an appeal through a newspaper to seek financial help for Hamza’s treatment. The appeal was published in The News, Islamabad, and soon he was receiving phone calls from all over Pakistan. “I got about 100 phone calls. All of them wanted to help me pay for Hamza’s treatment,” he recalled.

A military officer based in Kamra helped Hamza to get admitted to the PIMS. Every arrangement for transporting him and his father to Islamabad had been made and a philanthropist, who didn’t want to publicise his name and deed, paid all medical bills.

Subsequently, donations poured in from many known and unknown people. They included the staff at the Army Para Training School in Peshawar, a Pakistani family living in the US, a woman journalist from Islamabad and a number of young students. Some brought toys for Hamza, others left cash at his bedside.

The staff at the Governor House, Peshawar, the office of the Advocate General, NWFP, and the Pakistan Baitul Mal, Islamabad, also got in touch with Ahmadzada and offered help. It was heart-warming to hear Ahmadzada telling the lady who called from the Pakistan Baitul Mal that he had received enough financial support and didn’t need more. He advised her to provide support to other deserving patients.

Despite being poor, Ahmadzada showed the way to others. “All I can do is to pray all my life for those who helped me in this hour of need. I had no means to get Hamza treated,” he remarked.

Ahmadzada was full of praise for the doctors who helped in the treatment of his son at the PIMS. In particular, he named Dr Zaheer Abbasi and Dr Sibghatullah Afridi.

When contacted, Dr Zaheer Abbasi said Hamza was brought to the PIMS in a precarious condition, as his stomach, liver and intestines were damaged due to bullet injuries. “Now he is in a stable condition and has been sent home.”

Pakistan Beats Australia In Last ODI

Pakistan has just beaten Australia in the last out of the 5 ODI series, out of which Pakistan won 2 [including this one] and Australia won 3. Although the win didn't effect the series but it showed once again that if Pakistan wants it can beat any team in the world, but all we have to do is try! Anyway back to the match, Kamran Akmal [Pakistani wicket keeper] scored 116 to make his team win. He went as the 4th batsman, but i still can't figure out why he isn't opening with Salman Butt? He is a terrific batsman and when he opened, him and Salman Butt used to do wonders. On the scorecard; The openers [Salman Butt and Ahmed Shehzad] did barely anything as Salman got out in the first over and Shehzad only scored 19 runs off of 52 balls [for a opener for ODI that's bad], Our captain Younis Khan came and smashed the aussies with 27 runs off of 37 balls but took a stupid shot a got out with a catch. Then came the game savers Misbah-Ul-Haq [76 runs] and Kamran Akmal [116 runs] who killed the aussies with their terrific batting and partnership. Pakistan won this match but has to be smarter with it's batting lineup [clue: CHANGE THE DAMN OPENERS]. Our bowling was not that bad with Shahid Afridi doing his thing [only gave away 36 runs from 10 overs]. Pakistan should mix the mistakes they made and get ready for their upcoming Twenty 20 match with Australia and get prepared for the T20 World Cup [this june]. If you want more details on this match click on the link below. Allah Hafiz and have a great day!!!

The Famous Roosevelt Hotel In New York City Is Owned By Pakistan

Wow, I did not know this until recently; The famous Roosevelt hotel which is shown in famous hollywood films as The French Connection, Hanky Panky, Quiz Show, Boiler Room, Maid in Manhattan and 1408 is owned by no one else but the Pakistani Government! Shocking indeed but very interesting. It is infact owned by Pakistan International Airlines [PIA], which is owned by the Pakistani Government. Here's a brief history of the Roosevelt hotel with some useful links and facts as well as some pictures of the hotel.

History:
The Roosevelt Hotel was at one time linked with Grand Central Station by way of an underground passage that connected the hotel to the train terminal. Guy Lombardo performed “Auld Lang Syne” for the first time in the hotel’s Roosevelt Grill, and Lawrence Welk began his career at the Roosevelt Hotel. From 1943 to 1955 the Roosevelt Hotel served as the New York City office and residence of Governor Thomas E. Dewey. Dewey's primary residence was his farm in upstate New York, but he used Suite 1527 in the Roosevelt to conduct most of his official business in the city. In the famous 1948 United States presidential election, Dewey, his family, and staff listened to the election returns in Suite 1527 of the Roosevelt; in the election Dewey lost to incumbent President Harry Truman in one of the greatest political upsets in American history. Since 1979, the hotel had been leased by the Pakistan International Airlines through its investment arm PIA Investments Ltd., with an option to purchase the building after 20 years. Prince Faisal bin Khalid Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia was one of the investors in the 1979 deal. In 2005, PIA bought out its partner in a deal that included the prince's share in Hotel Scribe in Paris in exchange for $40 million and PIA's share of the Riyadh Minhal Hotel (a Holiday Inn located on property owned by the prince).

After a major $65 million renovation, in July 2007 PIA announced that it was putting the hotel up for sale for $1 billion. It was reported that the property would be marketed by New York-based real estate company Cushman & Wakefield.
Facts:
  • There are a total of 1,015 rooms in the hotel, including 52 suites, one of which (the Presidential Suite) has 3,900 square feet (360 m2) with four bedrooms, a kitchen, formal living and dining areas, and a wrap-around terrace.
  • The rooms are traditionally decorated, with mahogany wood furniture and light-colored bed coverings.
  • The "Roosevelt Grill" serves American food and regional specialties for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The "Madison Club Lounge" has a 30-foot (9.1 m) mahogany bar, stained glass windows and a pair of fireplaces. There is also a cafe (Ferraras Cafe).
  • The Roosevelt has 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2) of meeting and exhibit space, including two ballrooms and 17 additional meeting rooms ranging in size from 300 – 1,100 sq ft (100 m2). It offers a business center which provides Internet access, fax services, secretarial services, copy services and shipping services.
  • Other services include a concierge, a 24-hour fitness center, safety deposit boxes, valet laundry, valet or self-parking, and 15 retail tenants, including a Bostonian Shoes.
  • The New York City hotel opened on September 22, 1924. The hotel closed in 1995 and reopened in 1997 after a $65-million extensive renovation.
